Insulate Your Switch Plates to Keep the Cold Out

The cold isn’t just upon us, it’s here. We need to take steps to insulate our homes better so that not only do we keep warm, but we don’t waste money by raising that thermostat and paying more for gas. And while your insulating your windows and doors, as we all should, there  are parts of your home you probably don’t realize could use insulation. You can actually insulate your switch plates which can help keep things a bit warmer.

You can buy electrical switch plate insulators which are made out of dense foam and fit snugly under switch plates. People don’t realize it, but those holes in our walls can bring in drafts just as much as the space underneath the door.  You can also find insulators for electrical outlets as well. Just be careful when working with and removing  these plates, because you can easily get electrocuted when working with metal tools like a screw driver.

Make this a priority as it’s definitely an investment worth making.
