New Cabinet Finishes for an Old Friend
My friend Jack and I went to high school together. He came from a good family and went to Wharton for his MBA before hitting Wall Street in the ‘80s. He was always a family man so I don’t feel great about calling him part of the “Me” generation.
He recently called and asked me about redoing his kitchen, since he knows that my wife works in interior design. His last kid just left the house for college, NYU I think, and he wants to redo his kitchen, although why I’m not sure, since all the stainless steel appliances and granite counter tops already make it look like a showroom. But that’s him, I guess.
So he’s working with my wife on the color of the walls, the type of flooring and the other details, such as the kitchen cabinet knobs, the switch plates and the cabinet finishes. Of course Celeste, my wife, is the best at that stuff, and with Jack’s taste you can bet it won’t be cheap – she said he’s already chosen the most expensive cabinet finishes. So after all’s said and done we’ll have the Barrows over for dinner. Eventually I’m sure they’ll have us over too, after their kitchen is all done. It sure has been a while.
