Brass door knobs never go out of style. There’s something so satisfying about grasping cool door knob hardware. You don’t get the same feeling when you have levers.
Door knob hardware was patented in 1878. Since then the world has never been the same. Access to inner sanctums was transformed from a schlepping a bolted heavy door to a easily opening a door with a turn of the wrist. With that ease came the ability to sneak into certain places. And so other reactions to the easy access arose. If you didn’t want to deadbolt your door, there was always the possibility of having a secret password.
